| Actually, maybe changing back to the old prison map until this one is done will draw in a hell of a lot of players, even for a little while. Because everyone always comes to see a map change. | |

| Yay a New map!! Also use tile blending this time -.- I don't really like the dual language thing, cause some non English speaking Brazilians are just pure assholes, even their English speaking counterparts can't get them to follow the rules. But it's your map, go crazy and add 4 languages (including Latin) | |

| FURTHER DETAILS ON THE MONSTER ARENA
The Monster Arena is very special, as it isn't simply a place where monsters spawn and thats it...it's so much more complicated.
For you guys, thats good. For me, it made me ragequit several times just trying to get it working. But so far I got the starting mechanisms working, so it's smooth sailing from there.
Heres how it works: There are 2 buttons at first, one opens a gate into the arena (red switch) and another triggers a switch inside it (green switch). One player (or 2, 3, as many as you want) gets in the arena, and one player stays outside the arena and presses the green switch to activate a switch on the inside and deactivate both outside switches...IF a player isn't there to press the inside switch and start the game, then there's also a blue switch (activated by the outside green switch), which, once pressed, deactivates the inside switch and itself and activates a red switch, which will confirm the reset and re-activates the 2 outside switches so people can play again. IF somebody presses the reset switch and there's a guy in the arena, then theres a convenient teleport which will bring players stuck inside to the outside. This teleport is disabled once the player presses the inside switch, which will start the game.
See all that? That's the reason I hated working on it...at first, but then after a while I had the ball going and I just couldn't stop until I got it right, and I did. So, once you press the green button it triggers a delay and spawns monsters...after 5 seconds it spawns a second set of monsters and another delay. The second delay will trigger a door to the second zone, in which the player must press a switch to close the door and spawn even more stronger monsters...each round the player will get a reward, nothing too much though. At the end, the player will get something epic...like maybe a laser? A laser wouldn't be too bad, as the monsters in the arena will likely kill anyone with lesser skills and weapons are removed next round.
Anyway, expect the unexpected in the upcoming prison_oasis_v1.0!

| I realized that what I was trying to do with the arena is pretty much impossible without lua, and I know no lua so the Monster Arena I was planning to make won't be in the map...sorry to those who were anticipating it.
I will try and make a dumbed down substitute for the Monster Arena...won't be as good but at least they'll be one. =/ | |

| STATUS UPDATE
The project is so far, dying like a cancer patient (I JOKE I JOKE, I KEED I KEED)
So far, everythings going all (kinda) fine and (kinda) dandy. Problem is...uh, well, basically I'm getting the CS2D map-making equivalent of writer's block, coupled with my severe habit of procrastinating right in the middle of big projects (a deadly combination indeed).
One problem is I don't really like how I laid out the map (above ground looks weird, the cells are great, IMO), and now I've gone too far in too just redo it all. Also, due to my oh-so-suddenly tight schedule, I have even less time to work on it. Damn...
BUT I'll think of something. I've always been one to get out of crappy situations (even if it means wiggling out like a little worm). | |

| Alrighty, getting to work on the sfx. Sektor suggested I add a nyancat song in the disco...its possible and I may be able to do it, however I've come across a couple of problems. 1). The file size is 240kb, which is pretty damn big considering I promised to keep the whole thing under 1mb. 2). It doesn't loop correctly. I used tipard video converter (it does audio too) to downgrade the quality to save space, but it just so happened to cut off about a second from the 27s loop. 3). As I said, the quality was downgraded, and its definitely noticeable. It's not too bad though, you can clearly hear the nya's and the epic melody will probably tune out the sucky quality. EDIT- Also, I forgot to mention the file size of the whole thing, which is 415kb without nyancat, and 655kb with nyan cat. | Lol idk. It's pretty much in map purgatory right now. A lot is done though, it's just I find making this map EXTREMELY boring, and I normally end up googling some porn while making it. Here's a fun fact, I only spent about five hours making our current map in 2010, but those hours were spread over a course of two months. Epic Procrastination? I think so. Anyway, the reason I was making the map in the first place was because the servers were empty at the time, and now there is normally like ten or twelve players when I join. That doesn't mean I've stopped making it overall, but it does mean that this map probably wont be done in some time...maybe Christmas? Who knows...just depends on how much stuff I got to do, how bored I am, etc. Though, I might just make a quick fix for our current map, because I've found some problems that I think are just lame. 1. When I downloaded the map on a new client, I saw that in the molotov room, it doesn't show the shadow that covers the area, making it very visible, and ruining the secret. 2. Not enough torture rooms, I intend on making more. 3. The snark room was broken in an attempt to put delays, so I'm returning it to normal. 4. I might include the bilingual thing I said was gonna be in oasis, but I might not if it'll take too much time. 5. Getting rid of that damn armor. 6. Some other things I have planned. (Now you might ask "Why do another update when you can work on the new one?". Answer: I got bored working on the new one, ran out of ideas and messed up some of the map.) Note, that this map isn't dead per se, just...dying or something. Blame my laziness. | |
